Retired in 1993, as a CWO4, Surface Warfare Officer, specializing in Nuclear Systems repair. Assigned to train and qualify the first two women to serve on board a US Navy ship (USS Vulcan AR-5) served in both the Atlantic fleets, stationed in Guam, M. I. Served as director of the US Navy Damage Control School, Norfolk, Va.obtained a commercial pilot license, taught ground school on board ship and ashore in Guam, & Springfield , Ma. Taught AC/R technology at Tidewater Community College, before retiring to Fl.

I enlisted into the Air Force and the day after graduation I boarded a jet headed to San Antonio Texas where I entered basic training at LACKLAND AFB. After 8 weeks I was sent to school at CHANUTE AFB in Rantoul, Ill. At the end of 10 weeks I graduated my class of Fire Protection Specialist and so I was on a career path that I have been on now going on 44 years now.

First year in the Navy I was aboard an old WWII LST. I was the Coxswain on Landing Craft #1. We ran supplies up and down the Mekong Delta. My second year I served onboard USS Vulcan AR5. I volunteered to return to Viet Nam and upon return I was stationed at Cua Viet 3 miles south of the DMZ. I extended In Country and for the next 10 months I was an Adviser on a gunboat called a Swift Boat that was on an Island off the coast of Viet Nam. I was separated from Active Duty in the Philippines and went back to Singapore to pick up my wife whom I had married when I was in Singapore when I received my 30 days leave for extending in Viet Nam . Then we retuned to the States. I served on the Chester Police Department for 19 years and I was shot in the line of Duty and forced to retire. I currently live in Middletown Delaware.
